Terms of Service
These Terms of Service ("Terms") are a binding agreement between you and the individual who operates AutoTurret ("AutoTurret", "we", "us", "our"). They govern your use of the website at autoturret.xyz, the AutoTurret dashboard, the AutoTurret Chat Guard plugin, and any related features (together, the "Service").
By creating an account, signing in, or using the Service, you agree to these Terms, our Privacy Policy, our Acceptable Use Policy and our Cookie Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Service. Section 17 contains a class action waiver, so please read it.
1. What AutoTurret is
AutoTurret is a web-based admin panel for Rust game servers. It connects to game servers you control using their RCON (remote console) credentials. It lets you view consoles and chat, manage players, bans and mutes, run scheduled commands, automate moderation, and send notifications to Discord. AutoTurret is an independent project. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Facepunch Studios, Valve Corporation (Steam), Discord Inc., or any game server host. "Rust", "Steam" and "Discord" are trademarks of their respective owners.
2. Beta service
The Service is in beta. It may contain bugs, errors and incomplete features, may change or be interrupted without notice, and may lose data. Do not rely on the Service as your only way to administer a game server, and keep your own records of anything important, such as ban lists.
3. Eligibility
You must be at least 13 years old to use the Service. If you are under the age of majority where you live (18 in most US states), you may only use the Service with the permission of a parent or legal guardian, who agrees to these Terms on your behalf. If you are in the European Economic Area or the UK and under 16, you need a parent's or guardian's consent. You may not use the Service if you are barred from doing so by law, or if we previously suspended your account.
4. Your account
- You can sign in with Steam, Discord, or an email address and password. You are responsible for everything that happens under your account and for keeping your login credentials secure.
- Information you give us must be accurate. You may not impersonate anyone or create accounts by automated means.
- Tell us right away at AutoTurretSupport@gmail.com if you think your account has been compromised.
- You can delete your account at any time in the dashboard (Account & privacy → Delete account).
5. Game servers you connect
- You may only connect game servers that you own or are authorised to administer. By adding a server, you confirm you have the right to give AutoTurret its RCON credentials and to process data about the people who play on it.
- Commands you run through AutoTurret, and automated actions you configure (scheduled tasks, auto-moderation, auto-kick, bans, mutes), are carried out on your instructions. You are solely responsible for them and their consequences, including actions taken against players, wipes, restarts and lost game data.
- You may invite others to help manage your server. You are responsible for who you invite and what access you give them.
- You are responsible for complying with Facepunch's Rust server rules and any agreement with your game server host.
6. Your players' data: your responsibilities
When you connect a game server, AutoTurret processes information about the people who play on it, such as SteamIDs, in-game names, chat messages and session times, on your behalf and on your instructions. For that data, you are the party that decides why and how it is processed (in GDPR terms, the "controller"), and AutoTurret is your service provider ("processor"). You agree to:
- tell your players, for example in your server rules, description or website, that their in-game activity is logged and moderated using third-party tools;
- have a lawful basis to process your players' data and comply with privacy laws that apply to you;
- not use AutoTurret to process sensitive personal data beyond what Rust provides over RCON;
- forward any player data request you receive about AutoTurret's processing to us if you need our help.
Our Privacy Policy describes what we process and how long we keep it. We will only process players' data to provide the Service to you, will protect it with appropriate security measures, will require our sub-processors to do the same, and will delete it as described in the Privacy Policy or when you delete the server.
7. Acceptable use
You must follow our Acceptable Use Policy. In short: don't break the law, don't attack or abuse the Service or other people's servers, and don't use AutoTurret to harass, stalk or discriminate against anyone.
8. Content
"Your Content" means everything you or your server sends to the Service, such as server names, settings, notes, word lists, macros, and logs collected from your server. You keep ownership of Your Content. You give us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, store, copy, process and display Your Content only as needed to operate, secure and improve the Service for you. You are responsible for Your Content and confirm that you have the rights needed to provide it.
9. Discord, Steam and other third-party services
The Service works with third-party services such as Steam sign-in and the Steam Web API, Discord sign-in and Discord webhooks, and email delivery. Your use of those services is governed by their own terms and privacy policies. We are not responsible for third-party services, their availability, or how they handle your data. If you add a Discord webhook, you are responsible for the channel it posts to and who can see it.
10. AutoTurret Chat Guard plugin
The optional Chat Guard plugin runs on your game server. It is provided "as is" under these Terms. You may install and use it on game servers you administer, but you may not resell it or remove its attribution. Blocking chat is automated and may block legitimate messages or miss offensive ones. You are responsible for reviewing your filter settings.
11. Automated moderation
Hate speech filters, link filters, word rules, auto-kick and similar features are automated and will make mistakes, both false positives and missed content. They are tools to help you, not a guarantee. You are responsible for configuring them and for any action taken against your players.
12. Fees
The Service is currently free. If we introduce paid features, we will tell you beforehand, and you will not be charged unless you agree to it.
13. Suspension and termination
You may stop using the Service at any time. We may suspend or end your access, or remove servers or content, at any time and for any reason. This includes breaking these Terms, legal risk, security concerns, inactivity, or discontinuing the Service. Where reasonable, we will tell you first. Sections 6, 8 (licence for content already processed), 14, 15, 16, 17 and 19 survive termination.
14. Disclaimer of warranties
To the fullest extent permitted by law, the Service, the Chat Guard plugin and all related content are provided "as is" and "as available", with all faults and without warranties of any kind, express, implied or statutory, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title, non-infringement, accuracy, and uninterrupted or error-free operation. We do not warrant that the Service will be secure, that data will not be lost, that automated moderation will be accurate, or that commands will reach or succeed on your game server.
15. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, AutoTurret and its operator will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, revenue, players, goodwill, data or game progress, or for server downtime, arising out of or related to the Service, even if advised of the possibility. Our total liability for all claims relating to the Service is limited to the greater of (a) the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim, or (b) fifty US dollars (US$50).
Some jurisdictions do not allow certain exclusions or limits. In those places, the limits above apply to the fullest extent allowed.
16. Indemnity
You agree to defend, indemnify and hold harmless AutoTurret and its operator from any claims, damages, losses, liabilities, costs and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) that arise from: your use of the Service; game servers you connect and actions taken on them; Your Content; your breach of these Terms or the law; or your violation of anyone else's rights, including your players' rights.
17. Disputes, governing law and class action waiver
- Talk to us first. Before filing any claim, email AutoTurretSupport@gmail.com describing the dispute, and give us 60 days to try to resolve it informally.
- Governing law. These Terms are governed by the laws of the United States and of the U.S. state in which the operator resides, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Courts in that state have exclusive jurisdiction, except that either party may bring an individual claim in small claims court where eligible.
- Class action waiver. To the fullest extent permitted by law, you and we each agree to bring claims only in an individual capacity, and not as a plaintiff or class member in any class, collective or representative proceeding.
- Time limit. Any claim must be brought within one year after it arises, or it is permanently barred, to the extent permitted by law.
- Nothing here limits rights you have under mandatory consumer protection laws where you live.
18. Copyright complaints
See our Copyright & DMCA Policy.
19. General
- Changes. We may update these Terms. If a change is material, we will ask you to accept the new version when you next sign in or notify you through the Service. If you keep using the Service after the change, you accept it.
- Entire agreement. These Terms, together with the policies linked here, are the whole agreement between you and us about the Service.
- Severability. If any part of these Terms is found unenforceable, the rest stays in effect.
- No waiver. If we don't enforce a right, that does not mean we have given it up.
- Assignment. You may not transfer these Terms without our consent. We may transfer them in connection with a transfer of the Service.
- Force majeure. We are not responsible for failures caused by events beyond our reasonable control, such as outages at our hosting provider, Steam, Discord or game server hosts.
- Export and sanctions. You may not use the Service if you are in a country or on a list subject to US sanctions.
